About Elise

Journey of a Music Dream

If you ask her mother about when Elise first began singing, she will tell you that Elise could match pitch and parrot back simple melodies before she could even talk. Elise's first public performance happened in a Barnes and Noble bookstore at three years old. It was almost Christmas and she insisted she needed to stand on a chair and serenade the shoppers with a loud and proud rendition of Silent Night.

Fast forward past a few elementary Christmas pageants and mandatory middle school music classes into the exciting world of youtube karaoke. Before college, that was really how she learned and practiced singing. Finally in 2016, despite having minimal formal music education, she went to college and declared Vocal Performance as her major.

She studied at Emory and Henry college in Virginia where she was trained in Classical and Opera music. In her junior year she individualized her major and added an additional concentration of Creative Writing to her course of study. Elise sang in four different choirs during her four years there and also performed with a local Jazz quartet during her senior year. After graduating with honors and at the top of her class, she moved back to Asheville to be near her family.

In May of 2021, Elise joined local cover band, Commodore Fox, where she got to experience a new part of her voice she had never explored. She learned to sing songs from Guns N' Roses, Aerosmith, and Led Zeppelin to Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, and Prince. With encouragement and guidance from the Commodore Fox band leader, Jeff Anders, Elise began writing her own music. By the fall of that year, the two of them had teamed up with Joshua Singleton, another local singer-songwriter, and then came to life the first Elise Eden EP, Candy.

Since the release of the Candy EP in April of 2022, Elise and Jeff have continued to write original music together and perform live around Asheville as a duo. They have performed in many different settings, from breweries and bars to art galleries to home concerts. They were even honored to play as part of the lineup for the Warren Haynes Christmas Jam By Day this past winter. Their sets offer both originals and covers and they continue to create and record new original music more and more.

A new Elise Eden single is dropping 3/23/23. It is called "Can't Get Over You" and will be available on all main streaming platforms!
